Social Networking

Currently i use Facebook because its easier to talk with my friends and family. I try to get on at least everyday to chat and post how i feel at the time. I recently got on myspace but it is not as fun as facebook and i just have not got into twitter yet but thats something that i would like to get into. There are other networking applications like, Bebos and Linkedin that are mostly used. You definitely need to know the cost, if it's free or not, photo sharing, video sharing and storage space. Some social networks were created to keep in contact with old and new friends.

Email Platform

I have Yahoo Plus and it is about 19.99 a year but i also use google and have en email through the school that i have linked up to my yahoo account. It have a lot of cool things and i have used it for about three years and that is my main email. I also have a basic yahoo account that i use for fun when i like to play games and feel out surveys to get things for free.

Your Home Network

1.What type of connection do you have to the internet? The type of connection i have will be DLS and i have ATT UVERSE
2.What speed is your connection to the internet? The send that i have on my internet is the AT&T HSI ELITE the fastest that At&T have.
3.How does your computer connect to the internet? I have a wireless modem.
4.(A) If your network is wireless, how secure is it? I have a secure wireless network and if need a password to connect.
5.Do you backup the data on your computer? Yes, on both laptop and desktop i have a backup.
6.Do you have or could you use network storage or a network printer? No i have never did that before.
Do you know how to connect to a printer that's on your network but not connected directly to your computer? No
Do you know how to access storage space on another computer that's connected to your network? NO

Other Options

I would like to add speakers because i like to listen to music loud when i clean up my house. I already have a printer and dont need any TV tunner.

Computer System: Internal & External Ports

There are many reasons why its is important to have ports to the computer so that I can put pictures on my computer hook the Ipod up and etc.
I like to connect my Ports
Externally Accessible
(2) USB 2.0 compliant ports
(1) USB 2.0 compliant / e-SATA port with PowerShare
VGA video connector
IEEE compliant 1394a port
Integrated network connector 10/100/1000 LAN (RJ45)
54mm Express Card slot
Display Port
HDMI Port
AC adapter connector
Audio jacks (2 line-out, 1 Mic-in)

Internal Ports
2 Mini-Card
1 Half Mini-Card
2 Full Mini-Card
The hard drive options for the computer I selected are:

500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive [Included in Price]
640GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive [Add $35.00]
128GB Solid State Drive [Add $154.00]
256GB Solid State Drive [Add $445.00]

They all seem to be equal but the amount of storage.
I would do the 640GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive its not that much difference so why not and i like to listen to music and like I said before watch movies so that will be enough for me.

Computer System: RAM

The choices for the RAM that i have previously chose are:
4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz [Included in Price]
6GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz [Add $225.00]
8GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz [Add $375.00]
All of the choices that i have included all of them are the same but different amount of RAM and price. The Dell XPS 16 come with the 4GB but since i like to download music and watch movies and videos then i would go with the 6Gb just so that my computer run good. It has 500GB: 9,250 hrs of music or 750 hrs of video witch is amazing for me.
On the Dell XPS 16 There are only 2 different processor options listed.

Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Quad Core Processor 1.6GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache) [Included in Price]
Intel® Core™ i7-820QM Quad Core Processor 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache) [Add $350.00 $300.00]

Looking at the system requirements for the software I previously selected. All of the options listed above will meet the need for processor speed.

I chose the Intel Core i7-720QM Quad Core Processor 1.6GHz (2.8GHz turbo mode, 6MB Cache). I think the Core 2 Duo T6600 is a better choice right now. The additional cache memory should allow for the computer to run faster and operate more smoothly.

Computer System: Base Configuration, Form Factor

•What general solution or form factor do you need? What size and shape of a computer do you need? Dell and HP both list options like Laptop & Mini or Desktops & All-in-Ones. And once you get to each area of the site, you have more choices: laptop, netbook, desktop, tablet etc. Which best meets your computing needs and why?

•Once you've decided on the form factor, the question focuses on what class of machine. What sort of laptop? Dell has Inspiron, Studio, Studio XPS, Alienware, Adamo. HP has Everyday Computing, High Performance and Envy. Similarly, the netbooks and desktops have different classes of machines as well. Explore into each and get a feel for which class meets your needs. Once you have an idea, explain why you selected the class of machine that meets your needs? How and why does it do so?

•Looking within the class of machine, you'll find several base models from which you can choose. For example, on Dell.com, within the Studio and Studio XPS class of laptops, Dell offers the Studio 14, Studio 15, Studio 17, and Studio XPS 16. Which of the base models in the class you chose best meets your computing needs? Why?

Well i would have to say a Dell 15 inch laptop. The reason why i say that is because i like the entertainment listing to music playing games and downloading music and it is mobile and it can work just like a PC.With the Inspiron model it is capabilities and dont cost that much (i.e. processor, RAM, hard drive) to make this model perform even more efficient.
When i was searching for a computer i have to chose the deel XPS 16 because i like to donwload music and watch movies and listen to Itunes and school. I think that this well be enough computer for me.
